Yesterday I received a phone call from a friend saying that one of our High School teachers had passed away. It wasn’t just any teacher though, it was Mr. Madison. He taught the media classes for a number of years and had a huge heart. He loved teaching TV pro. He was good at it and knew what he was talking about. I was so caught off guard when I heard the news. When I look back to high school, his class is the one that sticks out the most. His class was one that it almost became your life because you worked so hard and so much in there. He taught me a lot about work ethics, problem solving, how to embrace starting over when you’ve lost your whole project, how you better be on time when you have him for first period, and so much more. His class benefitted me the most with skills to use in the real world and in everyday life. He was the teacher that believed in his students. He wasn’t one of those teachers that lets you get by with things, but really made you work for your grade. He was proud to call us his students. He’s a one of a kind that truly can’t be replaced. I know Mr. Madison will be missed by many!

I’m a big Harry Potter fan. The books are much better than the books. The movies always face the challenge of fitting everything into the movies, or choosing what the viewers would much rather have. For the most part I have enjoyed the movies. The last book is the most crucial one for the ending of the movies. The book is 784-pages and needs all of it in the movie. There are some who haven’t read the books, but watch the movies. These viewers wouldn’t get the brilliance of the ending with out all the detail. So I was thrilled when I heard they were making splitting it into 2 movies. I think that was a smart move on their part! The first part will be in 2010 and the second in 2011. I think even if viewers have to wait a year for the 2 part, overall they will be satisfied with the whole story.

This bridge is on the Old Donner Pass Highway. It has spectacular Sierra views of Donner Lake and Donner Pass on Route 80.
A bear was walking across Rainbow Bridge (Old Hwy 40 at Donner Summit, Truckee) on Saturday when two cars also crossing the bridge scared
the bear into jumping over the edge of the bridge. Somehow the bear caught the ledge and was able to pull itself to safety.
Authorities decided that nothing
could be done to help Saturday night so they returned Sunday morning to find the bear sound asleep on the ledge.
There is a moral to this story you know; this old bear made a wrong move and found he was hanging by his nails. Somehow he was able to pull himself up onto the ledge where he saw he was in a very bad, impossible situation and what did he do? Yep, he took a nap and sure enough the situation took care of itself while he was asleep.
The moral is that when confronted with a bad situation sometimes the best solution is to sleep on it. Think I’ll take a little nap myself.
When I first read the artical on the Student Charged with Rape on Rutherford school bus from the newspaper…I was appalled. It really bothered me that something like this would happen. I was bothered by the fact that the other students sat there and let the young man continue to rape the girl. Why is it that no one spoke up to the bus driver? No one really tried to stop him. There was one boy who tried to converse with the boy, but didn’t try and take action towards it. I also don’t understand how the bus driver didn’t see the boy on top of the girl. She was only 7 rows back. It’s not as if she was towards the very back of the bus. I don’t know which is worse…the fact that the incident happened, or the fact that no one tried to stop it by standing up to this boy and telling the driver. Both are equally are disturbing. … continue reading this entry.
I have a couple of close friends that goto Union University in Jackson, Tn. We had some very strong storms that demolished some of their dorms there and hit every building except for one. I found this video on youtube with pictures from it all. It amazes me that there were only minor injuries for the students on campus.
So I’m new to this whole blog thing. So I’ll start by telling you about myself. I’m sophomore and a media design major. On my free time I like to go shopping, hanging out at Starbucks with friends, and I like working jig saw puzzles.
One of my goals was to go to a taping of the Price Is Right before Bob Barker retired. I achieved this goal last year. It may seem silly to some but I grew up watching the Price Is Right. I was watching TV the other day and came across the Price Is Right. Drew Carey took over Barkers hosting job. I hate to say it, but it’s gone down the drain. Carey doesn’t have the same tactics as Barker. Carey easily gets impatient when the contestants do the game wrong. I personally think they would have been better going with an unknown name to fill Barkers shoes. Barkers shoes are hard to fill after 35 years. Maybe I’m just partial to Barker because of his long career in the business.
